Today's underrated prehistoric animal of the day is Estemmenosuchus! There are two species within this genus; E. uralensis and E. mirabilis. Estemmenosuchus was a dinocephalian synapsid that lived in Russia during the Middle Permian (267 million years ago). Estemmenosuchus could grow up to 10 feet (3 meters) in length, and the skull alone could grow up to 26 inches (65 centimeters). Estemmenosuchus was an omnivore, meaning that it ate both plants and smaller animals.
