November 14 is World Diabetes Day 💙
It was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness in response to rising diabetes rates worldwide. It’s recognized on November 14 because that’s the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922.
The theme this year is The Family and Diabetes, to highlight how diabetes affects not just an individual, but spouses and children.
1 thing you can do:
World Diabetes Day sponsor Novo Nordisk, has an online Type 2 diabetes risk assessment test called Know Your Risk. People are encouraged to take the test and share their results on social media (with the hashtag #KnowYourRisk), to encourage others to see and take the test, as well. •~-•~-~•-~-•~-~•-~-•~-~•-~-•~-~•-~•
The following fantastic, talented ladies, some who know this disease first hand, joined me to bring attention by painting our nails in the theme of the Blue circle or other important reminders.
