One of the reasons I have fallen in love with fitness and why it has become such a huge part of my life is so much deeper than just for appearance's sake or merely wanting a "hott body." The raw truth is I am someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression off and on for many years of my life. Anyone who deals with the same knows that it surely is a battle and that you have to find your own weapons to combat it. It is so easy to turn to food, alcohol or drugs to escape the battle to seek that little "pick-me-up" that you need.
What I found is that sweating it out was the best way to give me that mood-boost that really worked so I didn't have to always turn to those unhealthy coping strategies that almost guarantee to bring you more of the same negativity once the "high" wears off.
Getting that workout in and grinding it out in the weight room has fueled me through so many of the lowest times in my life and has become my strongest weapon in my arsenal.
