Today was my first day (with patients) of mental health clinicals! 🧠 I was super anxious and nervous last night/this morning, but it went way better than I thought it would go! (Which I knew would happen 😂) I actually liked it! It was great because our sole purpose was talking to our patient. We didn’t have any other responsibilities beside talking to them, connecting, and establishing a therapeutic relationship. The first hour was spent just talking to our patient for the day (next week we’ll also be passing meds during that hour). We also went with them to two group therapy sessions. I was able to play a little basketball with my patient before it started raining. 🏀🌧 I am looking forward to strengthening my therapeutic communication skills this semester! These are skills that I’ll be able to use in any speciality that I go into. 💗 Follow us: @dorothy.ramirez.nurse Please feel free to DM or comment below your favorite nurse quotes and we will help you make your unique tshirt, hoodies... with the quotes you love!!! Every Wednesday, my fellowship across the health system and I have education days together and we do case studies (and simulation!). It’s probably one of my favorite things about my job because we get to create these realistic scenarios based on little information. Usually we only get the patient’s age, sex, and what they presented to the ED with. Sometimes we’re lucky and get vitals, past medical/surgical history, or medications. 😂 But they are always fun and a great learning experience. ❤️🧠 #nursing#nursefellow#RN#ERnurse#ERRN#criticalcare#criticalcarenurse#education#newgradnurse 💉
