A small glistening cloud of blue dust crept under the heavy wooden door that led into the castle, and rose to be inhaled by the unsuspecting guards who had been placed there to keep watch. Once they breathed in the dust, they instantly collapsed to the floor.
With a wave of his right hand, the door opened. A small orb of blue light hovered over the palm of his left hand, as he stepped over the sleeping guards and entered the lower chamber of the castle.
This orb of blue light helped guide him as he hobbled down the long and narrow hall. He then stopped abruptly, and turned to look behind him. A smile spread across his distorted, wrinkled face as he took three paces back. He then turned to his left, and placed his old, bony right hand against the wall.
He felt around the surface until he discovered that which he had been searching for. Bending down, he brushed away some of the dried packed dirt, which had been painted to look like the stone of the wall. He dug with his fingers until he exposed a small brass knob, which had clearly gone undetected for many years.
He turned the knob slowly and carefully. There was a sharp click that echoed through the corridor. The old may-fairy stood quickly. He held his breath for a moment, and looked up and then down the hall. When he was sure that he remained undetected, he opened the hidden door and vanished within.
