The ERECTOR SPINAE is a large muscle that originates near the sacrum and extends vertically all the way up the back on either side of the vertebral column.
It is a power muscle that functions to straighten the back!

👱🏼‍♀️ Day 6 of things I ❤️ . I LOVE to work my CORE !! I can think of so many times during the day when I’m not “exercising” that I use it because I have learned how. Some examples would be raking leaves , pulling wet, heavy towels out of the washing machine , taking the grocery bags from the car into the house , lifting the case of beer into the grocery cart 😬. Here’s a workout that works it all AND puts a little cardio in the mix . 4 ROUNDS - 🍏 1- 25 (*** LOVE THESE !!!) 🍏 2- 12 🍏 3- (5x) walk forward/back 4 🍏 4 -15/15 🍏 standing exercises 4/4 lunge & raise and then 1 min side to side hops

Not the best form, but now that I have a belt that’s not too thick and still provides enough support (thanks @cliffordlenoxbelts ), I can crank out some more weight.

This was after getting back to a 300+ squat, which was garbage at the sticking point. That said, I’ve been afraid to squat more than 225 back squat since last June when I threw my back out. I couldn’t go over speed bumps without tremendous pain up my spine.

I can feel that 2018 is going to be a great year for my goals and progress, even with the momentary set back earlier this month.

I am asked this question quite often “what does that exercise work?”...it is called a Good Morning and the following muscles are targeted: erector spinae, gluteus maximus and hamstrings. The next time i will show the rack version when using the bar, and no i do not have 6 plates on each side of the bar when doing them!

I am glad I was able to progress by adding a rep and setting a PR with 185 kgs x 7 reps. Working so close to my max for volume is tough as nails but as long as I maintain my strength – let alone improving it, I will celebrate a successful workout.
