Romanée Saint Vivant Leroy vs DRC 2001, If I may have any preference as both are just amazing, I will prefer at the moment the Leroy, I will be very interested to know the yield of each of them as the Leroy was showing a bit "sweeter" and easier in approach with great depth.

1999, a vintage that I usually have a tender feeling for, production was "large" if we may say and great.
Normally approchable on its young age, this bottle took time to reveal itself and was actually very close at the beginning, not a reduction but a variance I will say.
Time gives reason to its potential and finally start opening up after 45 min in the glass.

d'Yquem 1949, where terroir take all its meaning, not only the soil is important, the entire environment "the micro climate" make the difference, if you have the chance to visit on a foggy day, you will understand botrytis meaning.
When you experience harvesting some noble rot grapes and tasting them you realize how hard it is to make those wines but you also have engraved the taste of it for ever, that will give you the chance to differentiate noble rot wine and others as late harvest.

What an impressive wine, the bubbles are so thin and delicate that make this Champagne going more on the fizzy side than sparkling, it is to gain in term of complexity, not so much note of fern but definitely still on young fresh fruit and very floral. The taste still have a nice acidity without being the most present aspect, 1990 as it should, provide a nice power that give richness and roundness able to compete the minerality of this terroir.
Still remember walking through the vineyard with Olivier, such an incredible vineyard in the middle of the village surrounded of a small wall. 1959, a vintage that we do not see often, not because of any weakness from it, it is actually one of the best vintage of the last century.
The problem was the fact that in contrario with 1961, when 1959 came out it was drinking very nicely on its young age and most of the bottles been drunk at a too early age.
So if you see one passing by, it deserve to be introduced 😋.

Mr Angelo Gaja was a precursor in a way, by planting some Cabernet & Merlot on Barbaresco appellation in 1978, if nowadays it sounds kind of normal, I can not imagine at that time.
40 years later, this wine still under Langhe appellation but still amazingly good.

One of my favorite producer in Champagne, Francis Egly and what an approachable person. On the Brut Tradition, mostly made of Pinot Noir (75%) from the grand cru Ambonnay, the rest of Chardonnay, it provid a great power with still a nice freshness given by the Chardonnay.
Francis was the first to write on the lable the date of disgorgement (suggested by a French wine critic), most of the time 48 to 54 months on lees for his Brut Tradition.

First time for me to try Latour on 1945, naturally when you approach this kind of bottle you try to put yourself in the shoes of the people that been through this difficult period.
After when you taste, you realize how amazing was this vintage in all aspect, condition of the bottle is close to perfect, still vibrant and the evolution in the glass is actually quite slow, you can tell that the wine is at its peak but will not go down so soon and can leave for more decades.

Was not expecting too much of it, but was actually very pleasant at the nose, took time to reveal himself in the glass but after an hour, it shows a complexity and a expression which I was not suspecting.
At the palate, as you can imagine the richness and presence was manifest but I find out it was missing a bit of balance by a lack of acidity.

One my favorite Riesling, produce on the grand cru Schlossberg, it provide a creamy and soft approach while the acidity still providing the direction without being too sharp. It doesn't get the grand cru appellation because of the few vines that getting out of the limit, most of the vineyard is planted with very old vines.
Catherine Faller still doing an amazing job in accomplishing those talented wines.

A 2006 that's drinking nicely, sometimes it is a vintage that I find with a miss of acidity, in here, a nice yellow peach combined to some white pepper aromas.
