Great news! Don't Frack With Denton, my documentary about civil-disobedience and the fight against fracking in Texas, will screen at the Eugene Environmental Film Festival on October 5th, 2018. How cool is that! I'm very honored to participate and reach an audience of such passionate people dedicated to environmentalism activism.

Thank you so much for your support over the many years it's taken to tell this story. We literally couldn't have made this film without the love, patience and participation of hundreds of people who believed in this project. This incredible story of Denton's courage and conviction in the face of systemic corruption is more important now than ever, and I'm honored that I get to share it with the world.

Hope everyone’s getting outside this summer! I know we are 😎✌️

In Arbonne we are constantly looking for ways to not only minimize our impact on the earth 🌏 , but to leave it better than we found it. Our green 🌱initiatives span sourcing, manufacturing and operations, lightening our carbon footprint with each step forward. Taking the lead in our industry, virtually all of our product shipments are certified carbon neutral. Working together, we grow greener every day.🌏🌱♻️💚💙 #green #carbonneutral #earth #arbonne #gogreen

“A tree has roots in the soil yet reaches to the sky. It tells us that in order to aspire we need to be grounded and that no matter how high we go it is from our roots that we draw sustenance.” - Wangari Maathi, environmental political activist and Founder of the Green Belt Movement.

On the lecture I was on with Kate Raworth about sustainable economics (wrote about it in a previous post), she talked about the importance of boundaries. She said that people she meet from the USA has the most problems accepting boundaries since there is a culture of ‘there is no limits’ and ‘anything is possible’. I don’t know though if we are so much better here. I think we all in the western society has this sort of view about independence and science as the answer to everything.
.
But I think it’s very interesting. Another thing that has become a very strong feature is our obsession with youth. Everything that expresses youth is good. As well as ‘new and fresh’ are very positive words. I think this is also a sort of indication on our fear of boundaries. Or our own boundary, which we can not ignore even though we want to - death.
.
In Sweden we hardly talk about death at all. It’s just something we don’t want to acknowledge ledge, almost not even when it effects us personally.
I’m thinking, is the environmental destructions a sign of our own fear of death? We sort of detach ourselves from nature and pretend we are not really a part of it. We don’t want to get older, we live in cities and surround ourselves with technology. I don’t know, could be.

I made granola, and I made a video of it, too! Dry ingredients were purchased from the bulk bins in my own jars, liquid ingredients were all bought in glass bottles. The ONLY waste generated by this was the sheet of parchment paper. I'm getting ready for #plasticfreejuly and I'm getting excited! I'm going to really challenge myself to make little or no trash, and I'll do a trash jar for any waste I do create, for analysis and accountability. I'm no where near "perfect" zero waste, if there even is such a thing, but I'm trying and I'm super happy about the progress I've made with habits and knowledge I've gained🌎 #makinglesstrash

Even if your child spends its whole life as a vegan, it will still cause a lot of suffering and destruction, and humans are already so very overpopulated, we're rapidly destroying this planet and all animals along with it. And also, considering how rapidly the situation is getting worse, why would you want to force someone to live in that situation?
And what if your child grows up with depression or some other horrible illness, and has to live with that the rest of it's life do you want your child to suffer?

Don't be so selfish, think beyond your most primal instincts. Don't gamble with a new life at cost of making the lives of others even worse.

Why not take care of those who have already been born, instead of giving birth to more people?
A life is a life, why is it so important that it has your genes?
There are many suffering individuals in this world who need a home, why not help them first?

By breeding you are inevitably creating more suffering in this world, both for your child and for many others, isn't there enough already?

Why do you need to create new life in order to enjoy your own?

To me, every new life is a tragedy, especially human life.

And no, it's not a personal choice if there's a victim.

It’s been awesome to see Seattle’s citywide composting and recycling program in action over the past few weeks. There are compost and recycling bins all over streets, in restaurants / establishments, and in houses. To make things even better, almost all single-use food packaging used by restaurants is compostable, so you can get take out or a food truck without excessive guilt over the waste you’ve created. We hope to see more cities following Seattle’s (and other city’s) lead in the near future.

Rainy Monday over here, but we are still getting our beach vibes on 💙🌊
