Come through! Tomorrow at 9:30AM, there is a march across the Golden Gate Bridge hosted by Turkish-American Gezi Platform in solidarity with the anti-#Erdogan, anti-dictatorship "Justice March" from #Ankara to #Istanbul.
On June 14th, Erdogan's regime lifted the immunity of parliament member #EnisBerberoglu, a social-democrat from the #Kemalist #CHP, for allegedly leaking photos of #Turkish intelligence agents delivering arms to (non-#ISIS) rebels in #Syria. Following his arrest, CHP leader #KemalKilicdaroglu organized a "#JusticeMarch" from Ankara to Istanbul, with the goal of "restoring democracy" to Turkish society, lifting the "state of emergency" through which Erdogan has essentially ruled by fiat, and undoing Erdogan's purges of journalists, academics, activists, and other #liberal or dissident elements in society.
The march is now in its 23rd day, and smaller marches from #Izmir and the Black Sea coast have launched as well. It has drawn support from unlikely places and captured a broad spectrum of anti-Erdogan sentiment, including quite a bit of secular nationalists, as evidenced by a 7km long Turkish flag being carried by marchers, as well as fascists who support reform in the fascist party.
#Kurdish and #radical voices have met the march with ambivalence. Some have staged counter-demos holding signs that place "justice" in scare quotes in order to pose the question: "Justice for whom?" Others have joined the march and answered that (pressing and valid) question with signs reading "Justice for ALL!" This last call for an intersectional and radical approach to justice, beyond the limited aims and vision of the social democrats is particularly relevant in light of thr recent march in #Rojava's #Êfrîn city against recent airstrikes and shelling by the Turkish army.
