6th year students went to Killybegs today as part of Engineering week. While they were there, they visited:
Atlantic Marine- where they saw how life rafts, life jackets and flares are serviced and replaced (fitting 6 people in a raft is tight work!!)
Mooney Boats- to see CAD/CAM programming for the laser cutter and a tour of their boat building facilities.
MVF Atlantic Challenge- they got a full tour of the fishing boat and saw how the fish are caught and processed using pneumatics and hydraulics. They saw the engine room, the wheel house and the tanks where the fish are held. Back in Ardara, they went to OBE Engineering and had a talk with Owen Byrne about apprenticeships, working life in Killybegs and fishing with a vessel like the MVF Atlantic Challenge. A brilliant day had by all and many thanks to the companies who let us tour their places of work today #engineersweek2018 #rcs #engineering #killybegs #education #apprenticeship
