Flashing it back to Malaga 🇪🇸
2 ½ years ago, my sister took this picture of me. I had been sick 2 weeks before and not worked out since then, but I was pretty fit and usually worked out at least 4 times a week, I was pretty strong and flexible. When I wasn't bloated from travelling, you could see my abs.
But when I looked at this picture, all I could see was that I looked like a huge 🍐. That my belly wasn't completely flat. That my thighs didn't just touch, but really rubbed together - chub rub... That my waist looked huge.
Now, 2 ½ years later, after multiple mental and physical health issues, I'm lucky if I can get to a yoga class every 2 weeks and my stomach "only" bloats once a week. I haven't been to a dance class in forever because loud music is a migraine trigger now, I gained some weight and lost some muscle.
And weirdly, I feel healthier and sometimes even prettier now than I did then. Now I know that at least for some girls, their belly will never be completely flat because of a thing called uterus that sometimes keeps stomach's from being super flat. That some people will never have a model figure because of genetics no matter how fit they may be. That fit can mean doing some light yoga every now and then, or just going for walks. And that even when you have every sickness in the book, you can still have a healthy mind and accept, like and sometimes even love your body.
No fishing for compliments here - because I now know I look good (at least on most days). And I now love this photo ❤
#helpfulinstagrammaybe ? If not for you, definitely for me.
