I remember so clearly when I was growing up buying the latest copy of Dolly or Girlfriend magazines; reading + thinking that the only way I was allowed to wear a bikini was if I was all of the things I saw; skinny, tall, toned, no bumps and definitely no stretch marks.
I never ever saw this in any of the images! It really contributed to my teenage years for the worst.
As I got older; my reading changed and I read Cosmo or Cleo and my thoughts still felt the same ... still not good enough for that bikini!💭
I now know that ANY of us can rock a swimsuit! 🙌🏼💎
For me i still don’t feel 100% comfortable wearing one though; at times I find myself being so mean, talking down to myself with these unworthy thoughts that just don’t serve me, sabotaging myself from feeling truly happy within and being able to enjoy myself & day.
Im aware of these thoughts & im working on replacing them with more worthy deserving loving positive thoughts instead.
The SELF LOVE journey is different for each of us.
We don’t have to be a “certain type” of whatever that is to be on a self love journey for ourselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I look forward to the day when more brands, companies and magazines start showing us the “real” and giving others a chance instead of showing us what their version of what a “perfect bikini looks like” - there isn’t one!
There isn’t a perfect bikini body!
Let’s do it for our up and coming generations!
Self love and a positive mindset is something we have to work on everyday like our muscles; we have to invest the time, be mindful and keep training ourselves so that we get stronger everyday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stop letting society, the media and those around you from doing what YOU want for YOU!🌻
