This is an image of my father on a menstrual pad pool float, sent via text to me today. I got him the float - anonymously, but he knew (something he and I have in common: trickster 😉). I'd wanted exactly this; I'd wanted to create this image - for it to exist, and to see what it sparked or deepened by seeing it. One of many layers: Patriarchy on menstrual pad at leisure, in blue, chlorinated waters. Like the Fem Care industry - chlorinated products, the blue "menstrual fluid" of televised ads, etc. It also elicits a belly rumbled of laughter and delight to see my dad on this thing - like one of his sexist joke's turned on its head... 🙃 Aye, what narratives bleed through our experiences of the menstrual... Touch into your collective and personal threads with me tomorrow morning at •Blood Ink• a workshop of ritual, art making, and embodied rewriting of your full-blooded body narrative. Discover an archetypal approach to empowering your menstrual experience. Open to all menstruators.
