With more and more festivals, Morocco is becoming the N°1 Mediterranean destination for #electromusic. Yet the history of the #music genre in the country stretches back more than fifteen years.
It's 3 in the morning, under the desert stars of #Ouarzazate. In the middle of the Sahara, a place known for its silence, nearly 5,000 people are dancing, whistling and smiling at the sound of the bass being served up by DJ Chris Decker, from the group Medicine Drum. The world had only just said goodbye to the year 2000 and this strange caravan was already in the process of writing history. Indeed, under the eyes of skeptical camels, these Bedouins of a new genre - dancing in the night with their sunglasses on - are the participants of Morocco 2001, the country’s first electronic music festival.
