So you are on a low carb diet while you are eating tons of protein rich foods? Genius.
When your carb storages are about get depleted, your body tends to produce glucose from fats and PROTEINS through a pathway called gluconeogenesis. So, instead of those cheap and easy accessible carbs sources, you are using more expensive protein sources to RAISE YOUR INSULIN LEVELS! You are not really going low carb anymore!
The benefits of low carb diets are many. But the biggest one is low insulin thus HIGHER GROWTH HORMONE LEVELS!
So, by eating too much proteins;
- You are slowing down or completely stopping fat loss. You may even gain fat!
- You are dropping down your GH levels. Less muscle and strength gains.
I am not even talking about the health issues caused by excess protein intake like digestive problems etc. Yes, we love meat; yes, amino acids are the building blocks of our muscles. BUT, everything should be in moderation. Keep your daily protein intake between 1.2-1.5 grams per kilograms of bodyweight. Overdosing it will not give you any benefits but can result unwanted side effects.
Train smart and eat smart.
