I went to Anna Miller's Restaurant for my (I guess it's now) traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. Not a lot so I added the corn chowder. It could have used more yams and added corn, but it was enough so that I had leftovers. I bought 3 pies to give to our dispatch (1 pumpkin, 1 pumpkin cheesecake, 1 chocolate banana cream). Well, I was looking forward to my leftovers until I saw this homeless woman who robbed me of them! #egads, at least I still had one of those pies ... oops

You look past us with shallow, empty stares;
Shadows that you refuse to acknowledge;
You dare not see the dirt within our hair;
Or the plight that put our lives upon a ledge.
We struggle everyday to curb our hunger;
We sleep on cold and empty streets alone;
We rummage through the trash with our fingers;
Our bedding sucks the marrow from our bones.
You blind your eyes to our endless sorrow;
With hardened hearts you brush aside our tears;
You care not that our souls have no tomorrow
Or that we sleep in puddles of our tears.
Though side by side we walk beneath the skies
You look past us with cold, uncaring eyes. ~ REB
