Home Ground features Andy Bey, an American jazz singer and pianist hailing from Newark, who has a wide vocal range with his intriguing four-octave baritone voice. Bey was mentioned by the legendary John Coltrane as his all time favorite singer. Andy’s contribution to the album comes in the form of “A New Day To Come”, the second Home Ground single in line.

At age 17 Mr. Bey formed a trio with his siblings Salome and Geraldine, called ‘Andy and the Bey Sisters’. The trio was featured in Chet Baker’s documentary “Let’s Get Lost”, showing footage of the trio delighting a crowd of Parisian partygoers. Before breaking up in 1967 they recorded 3 albums.

Bey’s albums include “Experience & Judgement” (1974), “Ballads, Blues And Bey” (1996), “Tuesdays in Chinatown” (2001), “American Song” (2004), “Ain’t Necessarily So” (2007), and “The World According To Andy Bey” (2013). #stephenemmer #homeground #ecstaticsoul #andybey #anewdaytocome

Morning ecstatic movement medicine. ☕️Feeling divided lately. This or that- not this and that. It's all one, just different layers, right? 🔮🌙✨ Happy Saturday to all those divided souls out there- may there be peace on the mat and in your flow. 💜

I slipped away, unneeded & unnoticed,

Taking a road less-travelled through fields Of ether
breathing life into this cavern

In an effort to help make this world a better place the Home Ground campaign will be in support of charity. Based on the lyrical context and the fact that the project is music based we immediately thought of War Child as the perfect fit. Especially since they use both music and creativity as an important tool in their program for children to overcome fear, depression and aggression.

The campaign will therefore focus on creating further awareness for the amazing work of War Child whereas we will at the same time donate a fair share of proceedings to support them in helping ‘our’ children, being the best thinkable cornerstone of a future world in peace.

Stephen Emmer’s latest musical offering Home Ground combines the eloquence of spiritual, orchestral soul music with socially conscious lyrics. It addresses contemporary concerns within the timeless musical excellence of classic soul combined with the sonic impact of the 21st century. The Home Ground songs are vocally performed by a careful selection of musical icons from the last 5 decades.

The music is intended for those who recognize and revere the best characteristics of the musical past, where excellence goes hand in hand with a meaningful message of hope and social concern. The main lyrical thrust of Home Ground is the world that is in constant conflict or war, whether over land, religion or race; this is not just black against white, it’s also poor against rich, justice against injustice, and the myriad other ongoing conflicts that beset our world.
