This is the back lit version of the same flower species previously posted called #astroloma. The difference between direct sunlight and moving behind the subject and shooting into the light can sometimes offer a really beautiful effect. This was the only bloom on the entire plant. The rest are just waiting for their time to shine!

This morning Mike, Wesley and I all packed into the ute and drove around the bush on a track to look for some spiders. Last week I'd found a (new to me) female species of maratus jumping spider and thought we could check out a similar area to see if we could spot any males. I'll post her shortly.

While we didn't spot the male #maratus spider we did see many beautiful (but tiny!) flowers.

This is a type of #astroloma that is seriously so sweet and dainty. The pink and white colouring are very alluring.

It's just the beginning of Western Australia's wildflower season and we are going to try and get out every week to see what's changing.

Environment might be one of the the most important treasures we have, but human beings do end up treating it recklessly. In order to raise awareness about protecting it, June 5 is celebrated as the World Environment Day, with India being the global host and this year's theme is #BeatPlasticPollution. The day invites us all to consider how we can make changes in our everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our natural places, our wildlife – and our own health.

About 50% of the plastic we use is single-use, and clogs up our city streets and oceans. We, at The Prodigal Cook Farms, ensure that our naturally produced veggies are delivered in reusable baskets with minimal wastage and maximum sustainability.
A few guidelines to help us start doing our bit to save our planet from #PlasticPollution:
β€’ Bring your own shopping bags to the supermarket β€’ Pressure food suppliers to use non-plastic packaging β€’ Refuse plastic cutlery β€’ Refuse plastic straws for drinks in restaurants β€’ Pick up any plastic bottles that you see during walks on the beach (beautifully depicted in the picture)
Have some ideas to share? Post them in the comments for people to know!

128,000 people signed a petition urging the listing of the rusty patched bumble bee on the Endangered Species List. It has now officially been made the first bee to ever feature, what a tragic announcement! 🐝
Why is the humble bee under threat? There are a range of factors, including Big Agriculture: pesticide and herbicide manufacturers, factory farms, genetically modified crops, and the practice of monoculture, as well as human encroachment and loss of habitat.
Why should we care? Because pollinators such as this type of bee are actually responsible for the propagation of around one-third of US food supply (but it speaks volumes for our global approach to agriculture too!)
Fingers crossed this listing gives the rusty patched bumble bee a chance at survival 🀞
