Still want to skip your workout?!? On the pic to the left I was trying out my sister in laws pants as a joke. I had already dropped 30+ pounds and I remember telling her and my husband as they snapped the pic, "Just you wait! I'm going to fit into this outfit soon!" My sister in law allowed me keep the outfit for motivation. Every day as I walked/ran that familiar road as I'd done so many evenings before, the image of what I should/could/would look like appeared in my head. The overpowering feeling of what it would feel like for my feet to not hurt anymore, or for once to not feel so tired and fatigued. It's what pushed me to walk another step, it's what drove me to eat a salad instead of pie, it's what encouraged me to not give up every time things got tough. And at any point I ever felt like giving in or giving up, I'd pull out the outfit and remind myself that I made a commitment, a promise, a vow to myself. one of the most helpful tools we can have is to be able to sit through discomfort; to relax into unpleasant feelings rather than fighting them. maybe you've heard the concept of holding space for others - but have you ever tried holding space for yourself? ❤️ by this i mean allowing yourself to just move through the feels you're experiencing, paying attention but not judging yourself or getting caught up in anything - simply noticing with curiosity and compassion. it is powerful and peaceful all at once (even if it is uncomfortable at the same time).

i've been holding space for myself lately, and so grateful for my ability to do so. it's a skill i acquired only in the past few years, but boy is it helpful 🙏🏻. it's given me the freedom to feel through something without putting any pressure on myself to "figure it out" or come to a particular conclusion - but instead, to just move through it as i am, learning rather than judging. even in discomfort, there is also comfort, and i can breathe a sigh of relief 😌.

Overnight oats ready for breakfast tomorrow.
If you know you're going to have a busy morning leaving little or no time to make breakfast, this is one of good ways to ensure your body has the right fuel to face the day ahead.

In this jar, I put:
6 dessertspoon of oats
2 dessertspoon chia seeds
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 dessertspoon nut butter
Approx 3/4 full almond m*lk
1/2 banana
Greek's style coconut yoghurt (Rachel's)
1 tsp hemp seed
Dash of maple syrup •
Mix the oats, chia seeds and cinnamon in a jar.
Add the but butter and mix well.
Add the m*lk and mix again.
Add 2-3 tbsp yoghurt.
Top with sliced banana.
Sprinkle with the hemp seeds and maple syrup.
Put the lid in the jar and tighten.
Leave overnight in the fridge ready for your breakfast.

You can of course have different fruits like sliced mango, plum, nectarine, or peach.

It's interesting how a salad can just hit the spot in the summer time. I've been fueling up midday with a few salad variations, but they almost always include lots of greens, grains, meat, and 🧀. This one is arugula, tomatoes, brown rice, and Parmesan dressed with local olive oil and lemon and topped with a jalapeño chicken sausage 😋.
