Common scenario: Mariu wakes up one day and decides she wants to be healthy! Starts eating some vegetables and exercises a few times a week. Everything is going well, but after 2-3 weeks, that same motivation about doing the above is not there anymore. And then Mariu falls in this cycle of alternating between what she considers “healthy” and what she considers “normal life”. This happens to Mariu every few weeks or so, others can even experience this after having been doing the “healthy stuff” for a few months.🤷🏽‍♀️ But why does this happen?
There may be many personal reasons, but the main reason to me comes from the expectations we have, and our reasons/motivations as to why we want to be healthy. [Share this with someone that can’t stick to a fitness or healthy plan]

TIME TO EVALUATE YOUR WHY:
- Wanting to lose some pounds is a valid reason. Wanting to be healthier/faster/stronger/HAPPIER are also very valid reasons. Most people that want to be healthy and fall into one of these categories. - The thing is, it is not going to be easy. In our industrialized world and instant-gratification culture, when things get a little hard we feel uncomfortable, and we don’t know how to deal with it- that’s why so many people stay in this cycle of start-then-quit, because surprisingly, starting something is not the hardest part. - The key is finding joy in movement and enjoy the process. But Mariu, how do I do that? Well, I’ll tell you what has worked for me in the next post.

Making this breakfast made me think of something many moms/cooks struggle with. Keep reading if you have family
members who eat a different diet than you do...

Yesterday after my workshop someone asked me what to do about cooking healthy food. She said that her family doesn’t like to eat healthy food like she started eating, and she has to make one thing for her teenage son, and something else for her husband. She said she can’t make so many different things every day! I told her “of course you can’t!”. To help her think about it differently I asked “did you know your grandmother well?” She said Yes. So I said “would your grandmother make one thing for her picky husband and one thing for her picky son, and something else for herself?” She said “No. She would tell them to be grateful for the food she cooks OR they can cook their own food.”

This isn’t easy for a loving mother or wife that is used to pleasing her family. But if your new diet or food choices mean a lot to you, then it’s time for a sit-down conversation, away from meal time, to tell your family that moving forward you will be cooking food that matches your goals or your new diet. And you’ll tell them each day what to expect for dinner so that if they don’t want it, they can cook/order their own food or go out to eat. Let them know how important it is for you to get healthier and that you wish you could make different foods for them, but you don’t have the time and energy. You have the power as the cook! Stand your ground and they will come around. It just takes a while for everyone to accept the change and get used to things. #HealthCoaching #PrimalHealthCoaching #Beets #FarmFreshEggs

Chickpea recipe: - easiest thing ever: get a can of organic chickpeas (I use @365bywholefoods) drain but leave some liquid. In a sauce pan pour the chickpeas over medium-low heat and just add the species, I used: paprika, turmeric, curry, salt and pepper. Then add 1 tbsp of tomato paste. Cover and let it cook for 5-7 minutes on medium low heat. Voilà

Tahini is having its moment right now. What you’ll need:

1 can of tuna
1/4 cup Kevoo
1/4 cup tahini
1 tsp salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 tsp dill
1/2 lemon squeezed

Mix it all up. Put it on whatever you want to.

Tuna salad with tahini instead of mayo? Wait for it…Yes, fool. Trust me, I make flavors for a living. I've also decided that's going to be my intro for when we're back to filming cooking segments. 😉

My clients LOVE this tuna dish served up in red, yellow, or orange peppers. This is a great option for food prep as well. Go on, try it. And then tell me how you didn't expect it to be so tasty. 😋

What you'll need:
1 can/package of tuna
1/4 cup evoo, preferably @kasandrinos
1/4 cup tahini
1 tsp salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 tsp dill

mix it all up
add increase/decrease whatever you want to taste
put into or on whatever you want too

Ideas: in peppers, on salad, in wraps/sandwiches, add nuts, add shredded mango, baked with brie cheese (if you can do cheese), mix with rice or quinoa, you get the point. #eatplaycrush
