The 7 yo made dinner! When she announced she would make dinner because I’ve been so sick, her first step was to head to the garden to harvest kale and a bowlful of cherry tomatoes (not pictured because they are too delicious). She set to work making a tuna salad that indeed contained more vegetables than tuna! All her idea, including the baggie of nutritional yeast for seasoning the rice noodles 😊
There are so many times in parenting the strong-willed child that I am disappointed that she isn’t interested in doing xyz activity together, or that she’s complaining about some amazing homemade something. But, I am gradually noticing signs as she ages that even if kids are off on their own endeavor, even if it’s been a bumpy ride, they are still soaking in some of the values and lessons they seem not to care about. And that is a massively rewarding gift for the persevering parent! 💕 Here’s to hoping this is the first of many vegetable-laden dinners to come from the hands of my little lady!
