MOST RECENT

As someone who is dedicating their life to fighting climate change, I struggle with how to best reach people. I know that a sustainable Earth can only come from global support for the low impact movement.
On here, I try to keep to factual arguments rather than moral ones because I have noticed that in the media, humanitarian arguments for a sustainable lifestyle are often met with a lot of negativity. Is this because people simply don’t want to hear or see the devastation?
Being on here gives me hope that slowly but surely more and more people are listening.
If everybody made some small changes to their lives it would make a world of difference to our planet. So thank you all for listening to me, hopefully I can keep helping you make more sustainable choices. I hope we can keep growing as a community and embrace every person who tries to make a change, however small, with love and support. 💙

HOW BAD FOR THE PLANET IS EATING MEAT? 🌏
:::::
”Meat is an inefficient source of calories. It accounts for 17% of global calorific intake, but uses twice that amount of land, water and feed.
Livestock also damages the environment. It accounts for between 8% and 18% of greenhouse-gas emissions, depending on how you account for changes in land use (when the Amazon is cut down for pasture, carbon emissions rise). Roughly a fifth of all the world’s pasture has been degraded by overgrazing. Livestock uses water inefficiently: you need about 15,000 litres of water to produce a kilo of beef but only 1,250 litres for a kilo of maize or wheat. And animals form a significant reservoir of diseases that affect humans; avian flu, the best known example, is far from an isolated case: 60% of human diseases are shared with animals and three quarters of new infectious diseases of people were first found in animals.” - The Economist

ANIMAL AGRICULTURE 👉🏽 KILLING THE CLIMATE & THE PLANET
::::
Livestock and their byproducts account for at least 32,000 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, or 51% of all worldwide greenhouse gas emissions.
Agriculture is responsible gfor 80-90% of US water consumption. Throughout the world, humans dritnk 5.2 billion gallons of water and eat 21 billion pounds of food each day. Worldwide, cows drink 45 billion gallons of water and eat 135 billion pounds of food each day. Hence the cows consume 6-9 times more than humans. Also, did you know that 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef.
Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon destruction and 1-2 acres of rainforest are cleared every second. The leading causes of rainforest destruction are livestock and feedcrops. Animal agriculture is also the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction. Livestock operations on land have created more than 500 nitrogen flooded deadzones around the world in our oceans. For you to understand how inefficient animal agriculture is 1.5 acres can produce 37,000 pounds of plant-based food, 1.5 acres can produce 375 pounds of beef....
70 billion farmed animals are reared annually worldwide. No wonder we need to kill the rainforest grow crops fertilize and destroy our soil and oceans. More than 6 million animals are killed for food every hour.
A person who follows a vegan diet produces the equivalent of 50% less carbon dioxide, uses 1/11th oil, 1/13th water, and 1/18th land compared to a meat-lover for their food.

The beginnings of beyond are within the ends of before.
.
The roots of the tree enable the flight of the fledgling.
.
.
There is light and dark in dance upon a melody of earth and sky.
.
Among it are the earthlings who first gaze in wonder at it all.
.
Then fear of what hides in the shadows rise and flicker with knowledge of the violence that resides.
.
And the earthlings that did stare, did flee for almost a forever,
.
From the humans who take. And the humans from themselves and their minds.
.
Until the light had a presence there again, and again wonder held, but stronger.
.
For understood love accompanied and in understanding came conscious intent for good.
.
So the light held. And the humans no longer took, for they understood.
.
To take was to do so from themselves and all. The almost forever ended and earthlings rested.
.
Then lifted, their heads and saw...
.
.
What will they see? What new world will we meet? What will we be?

[link in my bio!] "A Monday in Melbourne" is now LIVE on my Dear Diary blog. A little story following the adventures of @flam_ing and I as we searched for dry surfaces to sit on, chased the sunshine, posed among plants, drank tea and even took some snaps.
.
.
Special mentions to @pearlsandcurlshairdressing for the multiple day hairdo, @goldenbrown_the_label for one of my fave t-shirts and @seedlingcafeau & @rawtrader for delicious food and tea. It's all in the blog post though, so check them out!

Writing up these journals definitely help with whatever stress and anxiety I'm experiencing, and while I'm longing to do more, have more adventures shoot more and be out more in the world, I'm also keen to disappear and isolate myself completely. It's a fine line and I appear to walk it frequently.
