Day 5:

First constructed in 1216 A.D. by Lama Gyalwa Lhanangpa, next to the banks of the Wangchhu River, is an impressively large monastery and a fortress surrounded by well maintained lawns and gardens. Over the years, the dzong has undergone renovation to complete destruction in earthquake as well as fire and complete rebuilding of the structure. Today, it houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Other government departments are housed in buildings nearby. It has been the seat of the government since 1952.

Tiger's Nest a prominent Himalayan Buddhist Site is located on the cliff side of the upper Paro Valley!

It is at At a Height of 2950m! Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century. Padmasambhava is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan and is the tutelary deity of the country.
legend holds that a former wife of an emperor, known as Yeshe Tsogyal, willingly became a disciple of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambahva) in Tibet. She transformed herself into a tigress and carried the Guru on her back from Tibet to the present location of the Taktsang in Bhutan. In one of the caves here, the Guru then performed meditation and emerged in eight incarnated forms (manifestations) and the place became holy. Subsequently, the place came to be known as the “Tiger's Nest”

Paro Dzong... #bhutan #paro #dzong

This beautiful Dzong is in Shigaste, Tibet’s second-largest town and the traditional capital of Tsang province.
#Shigatse #dzong #tibet

Dobji Dzong built in 1951 was initially built as spiritual centre for Drukpa Kagyud and later in 70s its gained notoriety as prison house. Escape from the Dzong was impossible because it was perched on a ridge with hair-raising ravine flanking one side. Now it's back being the Buddhist monastery and was also featured in the #travellersandmagicians movie. #dzong #haa #monastery #bhutan

Dzong architecture is the traditional style adoring all the fortresses within the Kingdom of Bhutan.
Traditionally, all the fortresses hold heavy masonry walls, extensive courtyards within the citadels, hardwood panels and bamboo roofs embellished with intricate hand-painted murals on vibrant walls.
.
Interestingly, all the Dzongs (forts) are built under the direction of the High Lama, who uses spiritual inspiration to establish the fortresses, instead of architectural plans.
.
Dzongs are absolutely beautiful, with their spectrum of warm hues, earthy austerity and the divine energy that resonates within these walls. The sounds of Buddhist chants and hymns echo within the halls, and everything is calm, colourful and chimerical.

Day 6: Phunaka

The capital of Bhutan and the seat of government until 1955, Phunaka is a beautiful town nestled in the Himalayas. Located at a height of 4265ft ., Punakha valley, one of Bhutan's most scenic destinations.

In pic is one of the most beautiful dzong in Bhutan, the Punakha Dzong. This dzong is believed to be thr second dzong to be built in Bhutan and is still the winter residence of the dratshang (official monk body). Also, the place is hot compared to other parts of Bhutan I visited.

"Bhutan- the happiest country"
While traveling through Bhutan, I noticed so many beautiful views and stored so many magical moments.
Of all, One of the best thing I noticed was a spread of jacaranda flowers. There is a kind of happiness that radiates from these flowers which you will feel only when you see them. You will find you mind and your soul experiencing a different type of happiness, which you can't express or put down in words.
