Fanny Sabre, superstar natural winemaker from the village of Pommard in Burgundy..
Despite visiting the domaine twice and drinking her wine over the last 3 or so years, this is the first time we’ve actually met. Me and @3scoopsplease found her current releases very interesting. Lots of terroir in the wines, her Pommards have all of the hallmarks of classic Pommard clay terroir, they’re chuncky, earthy, have a bit of a rusty iron quality to them, but Fannys wines have a light touch to them, proper elegant, theres always a layer of approachable, jolly fruit on her reds and her whites have great concentration, grip and length. She makes on of my favourite Aligotés which has a lot of texture and her Volnay (which is normally only one barrel) is amazingly perfumed and silky, you are lucky if you can find it on the market!..
Thanks to @dynamic_vines for putting on such a great tasting last week. It’s not everyday you get to meet so many of your winemaking heros in one room.
