Finals are next week and working out is one of my biggest stress relievers, so looks like I'll be living at the gym and library for the next week or so!!! 😅🤓🍑
If you really want to burn your abs and arms try this one!! Go heavy on the weight to really target your abs and lats, and squeeze those glutes to keep you up!

Do you take the time to properly warmup before you exercise? Well...YOU SHOULD!
For the majority, you get hyperfocused on your goals of becoming stronger, leaner, faster, more athletic, and even just creating a healthier lifestyle. So you skip over a good warmup to save time and just do a couple 10 second movements with 5lb dumbbells or maybe even just do 1 or 2 light weight sets of your very first exercise.
But is your body really prepared for all of your movements in your workout by doing that? Is your body temperature elevated and are you even SWEATING?!😥 It's called a warmup for a reason...to WARM UP your body. Get your body moving and sweating before you even begin your workout!
Whether I'm doing cardio, lifting, hiking, bodyweight circuits, etc... Here are a few things that I include in my every day warmups:
1. Rolling:
Gotta loosen up the fascia for better mobility and greater range of motion.
2. Breathing Exercises:
If you can't breathe properly, then your workouts aren't as efficient as they could be.
3. Mobility Exercises:
Don't shy away from tight/trouble areas
Instead, PREVENT INJURIES by strengthening your weaknesses, correcting posture, rehabilitating past injuries, etc.
4. Movement Preparation/Dynamic Stretches
Use active movements that mimic any joint movement and muscle use during your workout. Don't forget to also use movements that counteract the movements in your routine. The antagonist muscles need to be warmed up as well!
5. Cardio Bursts
Finally! Get that blood pumping and sweat dripping!😥 Try ending your warmup up with 2 sets of 15 medicine ball slams OR 10 burpees OR 2 sets of 20-40 meter prowler sled sprints!
Then tell me how your workout went! I wanna hear about those PR's, improved squat depths, quicker mile times, pain-free workouts, improved performance in areas of past injuries, etc!!

It could have to do with being studying for this BCBA exam almost all weekend, or all the stress I've felt lately, but there is something so freeing about running. Following getting my toes wet running with my students Friday and with not enough time to catch my normal Sunday bikram class, I decided to take a much needed study break and run along the bay/beach. It's been a longggg time since my last legit run let alone being in the practice of running, and I seriously killed it today...I even PR'd on my 3rd mile (who does that!?) 😬🙌🏼...I'm still trying to figure that one out but I had splits under 9 for nearly the whole mile, so the data is there 🤓...I didn't even want to stop at 3.5 miles but it was dark, and I had to get back to studying 🙄...looking forward to see how this running game continues to unfold, especially since this studying is like a second full-time job! 🙈
