"The Great Hunt isn't held for the sake of sport. It's meant to find the best the galaxy has to offer—usually, to handle a task vital to the Mando'ade."
―Mandalore the Vindicated

The Great Hunt

This was a competition for glory that originated among the Mandalorians as a test of skill on the jungle moon of Dxun. Over time, the Hunt became an open competition in which any of the galaxy's warriors could compete. A total of three Great Hunts were called during the Great Galactic War, and another three were held during the subsequent Cold War.

Hedarr Soongh was the youngest bounty hunter to ever win a Great Hunt, claiming the title of Grand Champion during a Great Hunt held around 3708 BBY. During the Great Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, a total of three Great Hunts were held, and Mandalore the Lesser called for another Hunt not long after the Treaty of Coruscant in 3653 BBY. The Grand Champion of that Hunt, Artus Lok, challenged Mandalore to a duel and killed him, claiming the title of Mandalore the Vindicated. He would hold another Hunt during the Cold War, which was won by Jewl'a Nightbringer, and a third Hunt around 3643 BBY that was won by a young bounty hunter (playable character in SWTOR.) The Defenestrator, and Bloodworthy were among the winners of the Hunts during the Great Galactic War, and the third Grand Champion from the war served as Huntsmaster of the most recent Hunt. The Hunts during the Cold War consisted of thirty-two contestants sponsored by various patrons, and the competitors were narrowed down over four rounds. Contestants were only permitted to kill each other if they were competing for the same bounty, and any violations or attempts to rig the odds from the outside resulted in kill-on-sight bounties.

Battle of Dxun.

Orbalisks

An orbalisk was a parasitic creature found on Dxun that lived in groups. They lay inactive in caves or other dark places, until they found a suitable host creature on whose skin they would attach themselves to in order to feed. Orbalisks, once attached to a host, would multiply and grow, eventually enveloping and suffocating their victim. However, the holocron of Freedon Nadd contained the knowledge to make armament to prevent the orbalisks from covering the face, hands, and feet of the host, allowing them to keep this armor hidden.

Perhaps by nature or as a result of residing on Dxun (which was itself a great focus of dark side power), orbalisks were able to feed on the Force-sensitivity of darksiders. It was said that the orbalisks were able to feed on the Force-sensitivity of darksiders. It was said that the orbalisk armor's durability was such that lightsabers had a hard time penetrating it, making a wearer basically immune to lightsaber attacks. The only weakness to this armor were the exposed joints at the neck and wrists, but these gaps were so small a lightsaber could only barely slice through. However, orbalisk armor was unable to protect the wearer from electricity, as Darth Bane discovered when he was attacked by Umbaran Shadow Assassins wielding Force pikes. However, the Orbalisks did offer some limited protection from the electrical shocks; despite being set to kill, the force pikes did not deliver a strong enough charge to subdue Bane. Orbalisks caused the wearer to feel pain, fueling the wearers dark side power and if they were removed or killed, they would release a highly potent toxin into the host's body.

|| Mandalore The Indomitable: PART 2
With sights set on conquest, Mandalore The Indomitable led his people in an assault on Kuar, a craggy and desolate world.
The Mandalorian Crusaders laid waste to the world causing the destruction of many key facilities, most notably a Carbonite Smelting Facility, which attracted the attention of Sith Lord Ulic Qel-Droma (The effective ruler of the world and Kroth forces).
Mandalore The Indomitable, in accordance with Mandalorian tradition and honour, challenged the Sith Lord to a duel on the plains of Harkul.
Mandalore The Indomitable was defeated and was forced to pledge fealty to the Sith Lord and an alliance was forged between the Sith and the Mandalorians.
This relationship survived and thrived up until the attack on Republic forces at Foerost. With the results of the battle turning against their alliance, with the capture of Qel-Droma. Mandalore The Indomitable led a rescue mission and saved the Sith Lord from Republic custody.
Next with renewed successes there came the attack on Dxun. Mandalorian Basilisk Riders face off against the Oderonian Beast Riders with the ramifications of this battle leading to The Indomitable's death and the selection of a new Mandalore:
Shot out of the skies, during a retreat, Mandalore The Indomitable found himself stranded on Dxun's surface.
At the mercy of the many beasts of Dxun, The Indomitable was overcome and slain. || #expandeduniverse #eu #starwarsbio #starwarsart #sidronadiath #starwarsartwork #starwarsbooks #starwarsfan #starwars #georgelucas #dxun #jangofett #karentraviss #bobafett #basiliskwardroids #mandoade #mandalorian #mandalore #mando #mandalorians #mandaloretheindomitable
