A lot of people have asked me what the meaning behind Downtowners is. It is difficult for me to dictate a vibrant and true mythos that represents the underlying premise of the brand; however, what I can relay to people is how I personally perceive this from both first person and life lesson perspectives. Ever since I can remember; I've always been intrigued by and drawn to the mysticism, vitality, sounds, bright lights, and constant motion that is downtown. Every time I ended up downtown, I knew that I was still in my hometown, although it felt as if I was in a home away from home; a second home. The sites, smells, noises, ambiance are all apart of it. However, what I found most imperative to this magnetism that attracted me to eclectic mix that is Downtown; are the people, both local residents and tourists from all over the world have always attracted me. I moved downtown close to 5 years ago and can honestly say that I have never in my life been saturated in such close proximity by so many talented and exponentially creative Artists, Musicians, Photographers, Cinematographers, Humanists, Activists, Visionaries, etc. Every part of any city has its own unique aspects and niches about them and I feel that downtown is the place that brings it all together. It is the beating heart of any city; also the place where most come when they visit any city; so logically this makes it the perfect location to give an eclectic and diverse showcase to adequately show what your city is all about. In short, downtown to me is about love, unity, eclecticism, and acceptance; downtown is community personified. Downtown is the tangible manifestation of the words community and civilization; a huge part, that no matter our myriad of differences, we all go and share downtown. Downtown is where we can simultaneously observe and be apart of our own cohesion as a species. Downtown is us, we are Downtown.
