During my first pregnancy I ran almost until the end. While I was running I would always freak out because my heart rate would spike up above 140 in no time flat and I didn't know if I was doing something harmful.⠀

When I found out I was pregnant with my second I wanted to keep up with my new found love of resistance training but I was so confused about what I should or shouldn't do! ⠀

Meredith and I have 4 fit pregnancies under our belts, we've tried it all and we know the risk/benefits to different style workouts. What are your biggest questions? What holding you back? @40weekfit

💬In 12 weeks or less we meet our baby girl. I am still in awe and this morning as hubby and I were getting ready, he said the sweetest thing. He told me how proud I should be of the baby we created. It wasn’t easy. There were a lot of tears and disappointment, but God had a plan. His timing is perfect. Then hubby went further and said I should be proud of how much I prepared my body for pregnancy; for healthy pregnancy by losing 50 pounds. Then to top it all off, he reminded me how proud I should be of my pregnancy and how well I’m taking care of me AND baby. It’s really a beautiful journey and I can’t wait to meet this sassy little girl! 🦄💬

It's the end of the week, and it's a great chance to be thankful for all the things we've prayed for that we've actually received. Big or small, we need to remember to be grateful for them all.

Everyone's body holds some degree of restriction. Sitting at a computer, texting, driving in a bucket eat, carrying a child on one hip all throw our bodies slightly out of whack.
This misalignment can hinder our brain and nervous system's ability to communicate effectively with certain muscles causing over and under recruitment during every day movement and exercise. Before we go lifting heavy or throwing in complex compound movements we must first work towards realignment. ⠀
From there we can begin to engage the proper muscles, wake them up, recruit all the fibers, retrain our nervous system before loading it with added weight or tension! All three stages are equally important.

Celebrating my first week officially a work from home momma!!!

A not so proud story of why this week means so much to me...but I know if I’ve faced it, others do too.

During my first marriage, I was insistent that I’d stay home with kids someday + he just kind of needed to figure out how to make that work.
-
It caused him a lot of unneeded stress, hours at work and me, bitterness from him being gone all the time. It was a vicious cycle we couldn’t quite get out of.
-
I heard this line the other day: No one cares about your dreams as much as you do. It all fell into place when I started relying on God + myself to make my dreams happen, not others.
-
So, here we are, while others are going back to teach, I’m so stinkin blessed to have started coaching to allow me to be home with Mr. Rhett Man.

It's amazing just how quickly one forgets labor and childbirth...I guess that's nature's way of tricking you into doing it again 😉
It's only been a few weeks and when I looked at the birth pictures from @littlethea.co today there were a lot of moments that I had already forgotten! Birth photography is such an amazing way to capture a truly life changing moment of your life. Hala from @littlethea.co captured such amazing moments that you just wouldn't get if your spouse or family member were taking photos.
I cant wait to share more photos from Marcus' delivery!

I’ve got so many things to do, but prepping some food for the week always comes first! It saves me SO much time during the week, not to mention easy grab and go options, less dishes, and healthier food choices! If I have tons of time, I make actual meals... but simply cutting up fruits and veggies and also making some protein options makes it so easy to pair together for quick meals and/or snacks!! Since I’m eating with one hand these days (while carrying a baby in the other!), I stuck with chicken, chicken sausage, cucumber/tomato salad, peppers (paired with hummus), and fruit! 🍇🍍🥒

Getting in my Saturday workout has me like 😆😆😆!! No greater feeling than having a little more sleep (Ruby did another four hour stretch 🙌🏻) and a workout done before NOON on the weekend!!! Where are my other #weekendwarrior Mamas at!?! 💗

9 months in ➡️ 9 months out ⠀

My how the past 9 months have flown by! Working on my core coordination and strength through my pregnancy and during my first couple months postpartum left me in a good place to ease back into my fitness routines when I felt ready. ⠀

Am I back to where I was prepregnancy? Yes and no. I’ve lost my “baby weight”, we’re all sleeping well, and we’re all in good spirits. However, I still don’t lift very heavy because I’m mastering my pelvic floor activations when pushing more weight. My body wants to kick back into breath holding patterns and that’s 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️ no bueno for my core and pelvic floor. I also haven’t been running much due to some occasional pubic symphysis pain and an over all wonky feeling when I run. I’ll get there eventually, I have my whole life to run again! ⠀

This has been an educational and humbling journey with baby number 2 learning that just because I CAN do something doesn’t mean that I SHOULD do something. #postpartumjourney #postpartumrecovery #9monthspostpartum

Here sweet baby has an egg allergy and I am SO proud of her to continue breastfeeding and giving up eggs! (that's not easy!) _________
This little baby packs 11g in one cute little package- and it was so refreshing on these hot humid summer days!

1/2 cup strawberries ⠀
Juice of 1 lemon⠀
2 fresh basil leaves (adjust to taste)⠀
Filtered water⠀
Ice ⠀
2 scoops @vitalproteins strawberry lemon beauty collagen⠀

Combine everything but collagen in a blender. Mix until combined. Stir in collagen until dissolved, garnish with some fresh basil leaves.

I find the strawberries make this recipe plenty sweet but feel free to add some honey or stevia for added sweetness.

Every breastfeeding journey is different from momma to momma, baby to baby. Even experienced moms have their share of questions, unknowns, aches, and pains with breastfeeding. ⠀

Nursing Quinn was hard. Like toe curling, I don’t know if I can do this any longer hard. His tiny little preemie mouth just hurt with most latches, and as his stamina wore off his latch would get lazy and hurt that much more. But those good latches we would get once every few days were enough to keep me going. After 10-12 weeks finally one day it stopped hurting and we nursed until he was 15 months old. Since my newborn experience was completely unlike what I had ever prepared myself for I was so happy to have stuck to at least my breastfeeding goal. ⠀

With Evie things went a lot smoother, latching was a little painful for the first week or two while we got into the swing of things but nothing compared to Quinn. Then at 7 months she was diagnosed with a dairy and egg allergy so I’ve eliminated those foods from my diet to reduce any allergens she could be exposed to in my breast milk- not only that but I’ve had to ditch my entire freezer stash of allergen milk I worked so hard to build up for events this month 😭 to reduce any skin or digestive flare ups.⠀

Ask any mom, even a veteran breast feeder and they’ll have some story of oversupply, undersupply, clogged ducts, mastitis, tongue tie, poor latch, colic, the list goes on. The point here is that although our bodies are made to nurse our babies, breastfeeding does not necessarily come naturally so seek out help, see a lactation consultant, reach out to a mom friend, don’t feel like you’re the only one who just can’t get the hang of this breastfeeding thing. ⠀

Most importantly, a happy mom is a happy baby so if you need or want to supplement you and your baby’s health and happiness is what matters most. You’ve got this momma. #breastfeedingjourney
