Barely a week old and left to die on flithy sawdust in a huge shed full of thousands of other ducklings. Barely a week old and left to die without ever knowing her mother, without ever feeling water on her body.
Pekin ducks are intensively farmed for their meat and eggs. They are kept in huge sheds. The floor they live and sleep on ends up being basically half a metre thick of their excrement by the time the ducks are sent to slaughter.
This little duckling was rescued, but sadly passed away the next day. She was absolutely emaciated, dehydrated and full of infection.
