This picture is super #classy, as I balance to reapply my #lipgloss between photos, am I right? But this silly outtake (this is a real outtake that I didn’t know was snapped) is what 99% of my photos actually look like.
I love the #realtalk and #behindtheig movement that @teawithmd started and so many of you are sharing and tagging me in. So, are you all ready for some Real Talk? You all know this already but it’s hard to remember it and not have FOMO when you see someone traveling somewhere fabulous or wearing something beyond gorgeous - Posts on social media are a tiny, often carefully planned and paid for, piece of someone’s life! Period. It can be extremely difficult to not compare yourself to everyone else you see and even want what they have...but comparison is the thief of joy (and as a mother of twins I can tell you this is true). The majority of my photos (and others that you see on IG) are carefully curated “plandids” which means we love looking at them but they aren’t real.
I hope to always be my most authentic self, both in life and on social media. I am certainly not perfect or #goals, I do not want to appear perfect or in any way give an impression to all of you that I have “everything”. I also do not wake up looking like this...I spend time doing my hair and makeup before leaving the house each day, I have been treated with Botox almost every 3 months for the past 13 years (a fortunate occupational luxury) and since having my children, things seem to be sagging left and right 😂. So the next time you see a post on Instagram, realize that this is just another way of connecting and communicating with people, take it with a grain of salt and enjoy it for what it is.
