Wanted to share another Cleanser pH Test result with you all👩🏻🔬
Firstly - Thank you to everyone who has sent me requests for which cleaners to test next 🙏🏻
Please keep sending your requests via DM or in the comments below!
I am keeping track of them all, and will continue sharing the results with you! 🔬✨
💠 Next up on the list was the @muradskincare ESSENTIAL-C CLEANSER which revealed a pH of 6.10 🤔
My preferred range is between 4.5-5.5, and 6 is my absolute maximum.
I’m a little surprised by the high result, especially considering that some of the other cleansers by Murad were found to have a much lower pH. 🙁
With that being said, I wouldn’t feel comfortable using this cleanser on a regular basis. Maybe as a one-off, every now and then, if that! ⚠️
Have you tried this cleanser before? What are your thoughts? 💭

Why is PH in Skincare so important?
It is estimated that the ‘natural’ skin surface pH is on average 4.7 (or, below a pH of 5)
(Lambers, et al., 2006)
It’s important to use cleansers and products that help maintain your skin’s natural pH range.
Doing so will support your skin’s barrier function (it’s ability to repair and protect), moisturisation and healthy flora. ☯️
Not surprisingly - There is also a significant correlation between alkaline pH of cleansers (ie. pH greater than 7) and skin irritation. (Baranda et al. 2002) 📈
The most interesting study is one by (Korting & Braun-Falco, 1996) which shows that acne grows well at pH values between 6 and 6.5 and growth is markedly reduced at pH values less than 6. 🤯
While there are other factors that can impact your skin’s pH - I, personally, will try not to use cleansers with a pH greater than 6. However, my ideal range is between 4.5 to 5.5 👌🏻
I’ll be tagging all my results with #ssrphtest and #gtggphtest .
