Whilst experiencing and exploring Thailand with all of its wonders, I've been won over by it's vibrant nature, it's colourful and creative food, but most important, it's appetite for alcohol.
SangSom, for me, is a great and noble representative for Thailand's great liquor culture, this 5 year old, special amber rum has fuelled my love for anything rum again. It's distinctive character makes it stand out to many tourists and locals alike, most believe it to be spiced, I'm putting that down to it's major ingredient Molasses, aka 'black treacle', a natural sweetener mostly found common in brown sugar.
It has a successful past, winning gold for a liquor competition in Madrid, Spain during 1982 and again in 83, including winning over the people of Dusseldorf, Germany. Though maybe forgotten these days by travellers and bartenders across the world, it's still well respected by few and revered by it's connoisseurs as 'SangSom Gold Medallion'. Superb on ice in this country profound for it's heat and humidity, cheers!🥃
