This is an example of proper placement of a tummy tuck scar. Surgeon priority should be to always place the scar at the border between the thigh and abdominal 'aesthetic units' laterally, and low into the pubic triangle centrally. This not only makes for a clean appearance of the abdomen, the resulting incision is frequently superior in quality too. If the hole in the skin that was originally attached to the belly button cannot be removed, it should be closed vertically, as it is here. Although in this patient her vertical scar is not as inconspicuous as desired, this result is superior to her main scar being placed too high.
