Meet my new toy. My Dremel 3000. Love how it works. Bought it for my regrouting DIY project, but it helped me finish my ongoing kitchen project; cutting and altering my IKEA Grundtal kitchen shelves to fit my wet kitchen. It is so awesome.
Ikea has them in 2 length, 120cm and 80cm. I need 2 sets of these; 80cm and 70cm. It looked so easy to do it so I decided to pull a DIY myself. So went to a nearby welder to cut the rods into the right size. I really thought that was the hard part so I didn't mind paying RM20 to get that out of the way.
Little did I know that getting the nuts out of the rods is harder. One site mentioned just to yank hard, and trust me, yanking didn't help (or probably I didn't yank hard enough). Another site mentioned to replace them with wine corks, and that thing isn't easy to find here in Malaysia. Especially when you don't drink wine.
I wanted to cut it out but can't afford to waste a welder's time to do so. And my money of course. Went to check with Ms Google again to see how I can do it myself and found out this awesome tool can do wonders. And so since I have one, why not make it to good use.
So here are some of the pictures on how I took the nuts out from the rods. Next step, is to learn how to drill into tiles to get these shelves up nicely on my kitchen wall. Woo hoo! Can't wait can't wait.
