From writing a book proposal in the top pic 3 years ago, to holding it in my hands in the bottom only 3 weeks ago. I wanted to give up many times. I had writers block for a month as I stared at a blinking cursor on a word doc in complete terror the book would never make it to the 60k words I promised my publisher - a number I only gave them because some publishers blog I read said that's how long most non-fiction books were supposed to be.
I cried big crocodile tears as I read out loud my typed words of God's love for me as He walked me through post-abortion counseling.
When I started my book proposal in June 2014, I laid face down on the floor of our bedroom, and prayed, "God, I'm so scared to write this proposal. I'm begging You to remove all the roadblocks, take away anything, including my non-confident self, that would keep this proposal from getting to the right publisher. Would you turn it into a book one day and empower people to make You famous? Show Yourself off and use me to do it." I came out of the bedroom to see my iPad lit up with message from a friend. It read: "Lisa, I asked the Lord for a verse to give you as you started out on this book proposal journey today. Here's what the Lord gave me. ‘I will march out ahead of you. I will make the mountains level.
I will break down bronze gates. I will cut through their heavy iron bars.
I will give you treasures that are hidden away. I will give you riches that are stored up in secret places.
Then you will know that I am the Lord. I am the GOD of Israel I am sending for you by name.' And He has fulfilled every one of these promises to me. But I don't think He's done yet.
They say writing a book is like childbirth. But I think it might be harder. Childbirth happens. Whether meds are involved or not, you can't stop the birth. But writing a book? I could have stopped at any point. But didn't. For 3 years I labored, but I did it. God did it. He used me to write a book about His great fame and the glory He deserves.
In the first pages, I dedicate "Chasing Famous" to Him, the Famous One. May He continue to show Himself off and use all of us to do it. #chasingfamousbook #doyourdream
