I was really starting to think I was never going to start feeling better, but finally I woke up this morning feeling better than I have in almost a week!
Still not 100% so I remained away from the gym (going on day 5 of not working out).
But, during this time off I caught myself doing something I hate - I looked in the mirror this morning and noticed how small I looked (not really, just my mind being a little bitch) due to lack of appetite/eating while I’ve been down and out. I literally starred at myself and said I looked shitty and small and that I was losing my muscle DO YOU KNOW HOW ABSOLUTELY CRAZY THAT IS??!! Instead of focusing on my health, laying low, and making sure I was back to normal before pushing my limits I was making myself feel guilty FOR BEING SICK something I had absolutely no control over. I had almost convinced myself to go to the gym today to make up for my muscle loss........
Thank God I snapped out of that! Because even though I was feeling better than I had I KNEW I was not ready to push my body to workout, especially with the lack of fuel I had in my system.
The craziest thing is I didn’t even hesitate to say or think these things about myself. I just did it. Put myself down like I deserved it or something????
We all have bad body image days, each and every single one of us, but none of us should ever do what I did today. My health needed to come first and I’m so glad I snapped out of my negative thoughts and realized that!
Next time you see yourself in the mirror and notice something you don’t like I dare you to ignore that comment and replace it with something positive! It’s so easy to let negative body image thoughts take over our mind and I challenge you to not let it happen!
We’re given one body and it’s our duty to keep it healthy both physically AND mentally - and today I needed a little practice in a healthy/positive mentality so I can keep my body physically healthy!
