I do not really pay attention to #got but my husband is a total freak about it, so I know enough
I love how happy gut md put it...
Season premiere of Game of Thrones 👑 tonight and I'm psyched! 🤗 My inner nerd 🤓 can't help but draw the connection between GoT 👑 and what's happening in our gut 🔬 RIGHT NOW.
As you may know, GoT 👑 is the story of families competing to win the throne of Westeros. Each family has their own characteristics that make them survive👍🏻 and thrive 💪🏻or crash 💥and burn🔥. For example, there are the lovable Starks 🐺who are good to a fault, and the evil Lannisters 🦁, who suffer the consequences of prioritizing money and power over all else.
Similarly, the gut🔬 is made up of four main families of bacteria. There's the lovable Bacteroidetes💚, who have your best health in mind and want to see you achieve it. Alternatively, there are the Firmicutes👿, which promote obesity🍟, diabetes 🍬 and ruin all the fun by spoiling beer 🍺 and wine 🍷!
Which species dominates and takes the throne 👑 ultimately is your 👈🏻 choice! The single biggest predictor of your microbiome is the foods 🥒🥕🍉🍐🌽🌱🌿you choose to eat! Further proof that food IS medicine.
And for the real GoT nerds 🤓 out there, the gut equivalent of the white walkers is fungus👹. As the bacterial numbers drop📈, the fungus numbers rise📈! Therefore, to prevent fungal infections you need lots of good, healthy bacteria💚!
My favorite GoT character was Robb Stark 🐺. I'm really naive and keep falling for the guy who dies😭. Who is your favorite character?
