Some facts about the mountain we climbed yesterday:
1) Huayna Picchu (or sometimes called Wayna Picchu) is often named one of the most dangerous hikes on this planet.
2) There are virtually no hand rails along the hike and only a couple of safety lines.
3) The stairs are almost vertical & date back to the times of the Inca.
With that said, I’m so glad that Geoff Wang encouraged and supported us to do this. Yes, it sucked to have altitude sickness, crazy sharp stomach pains (Geoff had to press my stomach every 15 mins to get rid of it), our limbs full of swollen mosquito bites that stung like a mofo, running on only a few hours of sleep (woke up at 430am to get to the site), no hiking boots/good gear, and super tired from a strenuous hike the day before but none of that mattered when WE MADE IT to the top!
We were rewarded with the most beautiful view of Machu Picchu and spent close to 2 hours soaking in the natural beauty of it all and happy that we got to celebrate another thanksgiving in a foreign country together. And of course, he had to take a thousand pics of me before I eventually chose the one I like 🙋🏻♀️ #doitforthegram
