Shut off the power to the house, remove old lantern head, wire new lantern head to the post and to the light sensor, attach it to the post, restore power to the house, tape over the sensor with black electrical tape to make sure it all works, drape drop cloths on the bushes and plants, spray paint the existing post, wait for it to dry, then add new cross beam.
