Wedding gift for me bud, Kyle. Amp with binding posts, handmade speaker cables, AUX cable, and DC power cable. Speaker enclosures need to be refinished before I hand 'em off but they're coming together #diyaudio #diy #handmade #speakers

Installing new cables on these Altec 175 tube mics. They have a very unique design with a round, hollow circuit board that makes wiring especially tedious. #studiotech #diyaudio #audioengineer

FYI long ramble incoming. Last night I learned a valuable lesson about carefully following instructions, not fully understanding concepts that you think you understand, and sometimes the things you build early on that you're really proud of are actually very good and didn't need the 18 months of pain to try and improve it. So recently I've spoken about trying to best my original BluesMaker design (a stripped down and heavily modified MKi Bluesbreaker). One of the big issues I had was that I could never get the same amount of gain out of my new designs, and the tone pot was never as smooth. Yesterday I built a board (pictured) that was very similar to the original, but with a few tweaks. When I A/B'd then, the new one sucked and still had the same issues; not enough gain and the tone pot wasn't as smooth. To cut a long story short, I ended up opening up the old one to compare to my old paper layout of it to see if there was anything different and, nope, they were the same. However, I did notice two things; the lugs of the gain pot were in a different order, and the tone pot was wired after the volume pot. Part of me thought "surely the gain pot wiring won't make any difference" but tried it anyway and, all of sudden, it had all the gain of the original!!! I made a few tweaks to keep the gain and low end in check, but the tone pot still wasn't as smooth. Seeing as the gain pot wiring made such a difference, I figured I'd try the tone pot wiring of the original as well. Sure enough, it fixed all the issues I was having. So, but midnight, after several hours of experimenting, I had FINALLY built a new layout that was slightly better than the original (part of that was down to the silver mica smoothing caps, the other part was the addition of a minimum gain resistor). #guitarpedal #guitarpedals #guitareffects #guitarfx #diypedals #diypedal #diystompbox #diystompboxes #guitar #guitarist #guitarplayer #guitarplayers #diyguitarpedal #overdrive #overdrivepedal #distortion #distortionpedal #electricguitar #guitars #pedalboard #gearwire #handmade #byoc #bluesbreaker #tubescreamer #marshallamps #stompbox #diyaudio #gearybusey #knowyourtone

Our newest #diyaudio #vacuumtube #microphone kit is a virtual clone of the Telefunken ElaM 251, made with truly great parts. Pad and filter switches add versatility. Choose your own HPF setting at build time via NOS styrene capacitors. Choose your own high-frequency response via socketed EQ capacitor. We have introductory special pricing on the first handful of these. More info at <http://micparts.com/V251>

A high quality driver made out of fungus! This M.O.C.I. driver is made with advanced biotechnology by breeding fungi which in turn turns in to a nano scale carbon fiber. Then the carbon fiber is applied to a driver instead of using mylar or other common elements. I remember that I have seen one of the precursors of this driver used in poorly designed cheap gaming headsets, but this driver is going to be implemented in my latest open-back design which is aimed to be a balanced musical soundstage abomination.

Picked up this cheeky little 50’s valve microphone mixer a while back with the intention of modding it to be used as a vintage bass/instrument DI box. Beyond replacing the wax capacitors with new electrolytic ones (which I’ll get round to doing soon hopefully), it’s a little beyond my technical know-how. Anyone know any old-school tech-heads that are good with vintage valve equipment out there willing to offer some advice? A lot of current running through this thing and I don’t fancy tackling it by myself...😬⚡️

After a year of research, deliberation, and construction, my custom Mastering Console is done. Features include:
- Switchable gain from 0 to +5db
- Variable LR gain from -5.5 to +5.5db (in .5db steps)
- Variable width from -inf to 0, 0 to +6db (in .5db steps)
- 2 HPF, 2 LPF
- Side Tilt EQ in .25db steps
- 5 relay bypassed inserts - LR/MS matrix - Switchable order (2,3 and 4,5) - L, R, M, S mutes - >90db SNR
- Matched within .05db
Super clean, and does everything I need... and more. I’m so happy with how this came out.

Plan Zulu for this little sub. Gonna be some cabinet mods to do: enlarge the cutout on the front to fit the passive, the figure out how to mount the driver on the bottom. We'll see...

Build of the day- a custom wood box for my KM84 clones. I bought a cheap box, stained it, clear coated it, cut the foam out. All in all, a lot of effort for a stupid box and I probably would not do again. #diyaudiogear #diyaudio #diyaudioprojects
