I hope everyone's been out enjoying the weather as much as we have, as is evidenced by my dirty feet! I know that everything we do on our phones is very fun and seemingly important, but with the weather being nicer, more people are out on foot, bikes and motorcycles. Please remember that no matter how fun or funny or important seeming whatever you're doing on your phone is, it is so much more important to keep your eyes on the road!. My dirty feet and the cute paws of my puppy Addie would look very different were it not for a very close call a few minutes ago. We were crossing Alabama and there was a driver that did not look up and continued to accelerate until he was just a few feet from contacting us. He was looking at his phone and all I could see while I was trying to find his eyes to tell him to slow down, was the top of a red baseball cap. He barely braked and without doubt would have hit us both had I not been fortunate enough to get us out of the way in time. Thankfully, no one was injured, and hopefully, it was a gentle lesson for the driver. Sorry for the incredibly long post but this was just too close of a call to skip the #PSA
I'm not above reproach when it comes to #distracteddriving, as I'm sure most of us aren't. But please keep in mind what you're risking when you choose to focus on your phone rather than piloting several thousand pounds of steel.
