TRUE Spagyrics are made with only the most subtle aspects of a material. A Spagyric consists ONLY of the essence, spirit, and salt extracted from the plant in question. First the essential oil must be distilled away from your material. This oil is considered the soul or consciousness of the plant. Essential oils are the most concentrated form of plant medicine you can hope to extract. They hold the individual characteristics of the plant extracted (smell, flavor, medicinal nature, etc.) and have the ability to alter gene expression and shift body chemistry, in effect changing the way you think, feel, and view your reality. Alone, oils may have remedial qualities in the body for around 2hrs. But, if you mix a pure and rectified spirit with the essential oil, you extend the medicinal efficacy up to 36hrs. If you were to then blend the final principle of the plant into this oil/spirit mix -‘salt’- the Spagyric can last for up to 72hrs in the body. •
Many today who make Spagyrics use a much more simple and rudimentary method which involves tincturing a plant in alcohol and then calcining the plant matter to render salts. Some don’t even separate the salts and just add plant ashes back to the tincture. If salt is separated, then those salts are added to the tincture and those tinctures are called “Spagyrics.” This may be acceptable in theory, but personally, I classify tinctures of this nature in a different category than a Spagyric. “SPAGYRIC TINCTURES” are not comprised of the most subtle principles of a plant. They may have medicinal benefit, but they are no where near as affective as a TRUE SPAGYRIC.
Remember, Spagyrics always consist of the most subtle aspects of the plant. They are always clearish in color, being tinged slightly by the color of the pure essential oil only.
Here is an example of a true and traditional Spagyric made from Sagebrush. All three principles -Oil, liquor, and salt- were extracted from the Sagebrush. Nothing outside of the plants nature was used.
