Athena returned home from pet hospital a couple of days ago! She has suffered from a fractured pelvis and a dislocated hip. It's too early for time to tell if she will need her hip operation or not but these next 6-8 weeks are crucial in her recovery. Hopefully she will make a full recovery with a lot of bed rest, cuddles and physio once she begins to get stronger. Her leg sling is already off and she will be reviewed again in 3 days time and continuously thereafter to ensure her hip stays where it should be.
I would like this to not only be a reminder but an incentive for drivers to be more aware of their speed along country roads. If you know you are driving where public foot paths are around then please, please, please be mindful of pedestrians and dog walkers in the area. Reducing your speed by 10mph (even if the speed limit says otherwise) in these areas could save a life and avoid incidents not only in animals but people too. Thankfully,so far, we are on track for a good recovery!
