What a day; What a weekend. I think I need about a week of sleep to recover but it's all been worth it.
Lucky number 13 Survived the whole day out at Walky Park Rally Sprints today; despite a couple of mechanical gremlins. Overall the upgrades went well and it drove back onto the trailer at the end of the day.
I started the morning strong; After the first four runs the car was still faultless and I was sitting 2nd in category and just inside the top 10 outright. Unfortunately during run 5 the old 5.0L decided to chew up the water pump belt. I managed to get back in and reset the belt in time for run six but as soon as I got over about 5000 rpm it spat the belt again.
Luckily that was just in time for the lunch break; which gave the V8 time to cool down - and gave me time to decide how to push on. I made the call to do the last 4 runs of the day by sticking to higher gears and lower RPM (which to my surprise actually worked). It was halfway through run seven that the panhard rod snapped in half. It definitely upset the balance of the rear end but I pushed through the remainder of that run and then gingerly did the last 3 runs keeping below 3500rpm and without getting too tailhappy as the broken panhard made it a bit unpredictable. Eventually coming to a close 4th in category and dropping all the way to 19th overall. Crazy day; lots of fun. But boy am I tired and sore.
Oh and in other news; Yesterday I put the Milton Engines SR20 back into the Onevia ready for its run in and tune on Friday!! (No wonder I'm bloody tired!) #momentumautosports #doarally #dirtdrift #walkypark #rally #rallysprints #momentumrally
