Saturday Spotlight! FIVE DOG. We are Five’s 4th home. He was born in Haiti as a street dog and was brought to Colorado after the Haiti earthquake in 2010. He was adopted in Colorado Springs, then readopted to a young woman in Denver who lived on Colfax in a one bedroom apartment. She couldn’t handle him. Five was 11 months when I took him home and he was a bad dog in every sense of the word- reactive, unstable, high energy. He just didn’t know right from wrong and needed to run (and run and run and run) off his previous experiences. In a short time I learned just how smart this little dingo is. The harder he has to think, the better boy he becomes. Five is now the king of dog tricks. He can open doors, turn off lights, load the washing machine, take out the trash, bring me a drink from the fridge, spin, back up, the usual dog tricks, and plenty of other random chores. He is eager to help and more than willing to please. Five loves food, but his reward is praise. He will do anything just to hear me say good boy. Five is a once in a lifetime dog for me. My best bud. My ride or die.
