A common misconception about intuitive eating is that you simply just eat every food that sounds good in the moment. 🍪🍭🍦🍤🥐🍌🍉🥦🍠🧀🍩 Not only is that not always possible due to a variety of reasons (access, finances, etc), but it's also not that simple. ▪️▫️ Often, #intuitiveeating might look different for everyone and may also vary day-by-day. •

In this example, the woman's decision to eat the donut may vary depending on her circumstances. 🍩 However, through intuitive eating, she has gained more knowledge about her body and what will make her feel the best. •

The beauty of intuitive eating is that you know that you are absolutely allowed to eat foods like donuts, but that doesn't mean that you have to. •

Isn't it weird that it's almost part of 'becoming a woman' to talk about our flaws? I don't see my husband and his friends sitting around comparing themselves to airbrushed photos (though in all seriousness - men are being targeted now by diet culture too!) Wouldn't it be cool if, we talked about how awesome we are? Feels funny to say awesome things about ourselves, but it's NORMAL to criticize ourselves? Hmmm. 🤔

My challenge for you this week is to notice what sort of language you use to describe yourself, or others and see if you can STOP those thoughts, and turn them around to something positive!

The grocery snack aisle can be difficult to navigate. Here are some of the things I look for in a snack-bar:

❤ More than 4g fibre ❤ At least 6g Protein
❤ Less than 8g sugar - but watch out for Sugar Alcohols! They can cause some gut issues 😐

OR you could try your hand at making some delicious bars that fit your needs - using rolled oats, seeds, nut or seed butters, spice and a little chocolate, these are a cost-effective and yummy way to curb your 3pm slump!

Have you ever noticed how much more sour frozen raspberries are than fresh? I personally love them, but I'm definitely more of a sour flavor lover than sweet lover. In a nod to constant exposure, we've been giving my daughter frozen raspberries since she was very first eating solid foods. I remember the first time she ate them, she was definitely a little taken aback by the strong flavor. But now, several months later, what was the first thing she went for? The raspberries! And she had probably 4 times this amount. So just a reminder that even if your baby doesn't seem to favor something, keep giving it to them and eventually they might surprise you!⠀

✔Who needs a ketogenic diet ? 🧐Majorly EPILEPTIC PATIENTS especially children with non responsive epilepsy.

✔Why then do people use it for weight loss ? 🤷🏼‍♀️Weight loss occurs because the body is not getting its adequate glucose (carbs) supply thus the fat stores(adipose tissues) break down the fat stored in them which leads to a quick weight loss results and the liver converts fats to ketones to supply the brain with energy to provide energy most especially for the brain.👩🏼‍🏫

✔In healthy patients the body PREFERS to use glucose(carbohydrates ) 🍞🥔as its only source of energy .

✔You might wonder why people with epilepsy actually have their seizures reduced and do well on it ? Sun-dried Tomato Pesto Shrimp + Zucchini Skillet 🌞🍅🍤
~
Makes about 3-4 servings
1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 Tbsp olive oil, or avocado oil
1 fresh garlic clove, minced
2 large zucchinis, sliced
2 Tbsp sun-dried tomato pesto (recipe below)

For The Sun-dried Tomato Pesto
3 fresh garlic cloves
1 cup fresh basil leaves, plus more to garnish
1 cup sun-dried tomato packed in olive oil
2-3 Tbsp water
1/4 cup fresh Parmesan cheese
sea salt and fresh ground black pepper, to your taste

Instructions:
Add all the pesto ingredients in a food processor or high speed blender and process until smooth. Set aside.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add zucchini and sauté for about 5 minutes.
Add shrimp and cook until they are pink.
Add in 2 Tbsps sun-dried tomato pesto and stir everything well to combine and warm.
Garnish with additional fresh basil and enjoy!

For the love of carbs! I ate three delicious @neatfoods pancakes two hours ago and *gasp* I didn’t gain a billion pounds or spike my blood sugar to a ridiculously high amount. Again ... what am I trying to show you? -That you can eat your #carbs and still maintain a low blood sugar level, you won’t gain a million pounds, you don’t always need to be in #ketosis to drop weight and you just have to move your body. The key is working out. Even taking a walk right after having meal high in carbs will help lower your blood sugar.
