Lakers To Sign Forward V.J. Beachem To Partially Guaranteed Contract.
The Los Angeles Lakers front office has been handing out training camp invites at a rapid pace recently, as they signed Vander Blue, Briante Weber and Stephen Zimmerman to partially guaranteed contracts.
They added to that list Wednesday morning, as they reportedly signed Notre Dame forward V.J. Beachem to a partially guaranteed contract as well, via Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN: Notre Dame forward V.J. Beachem has agreed to a partial guarantee with the Los Angeles Lakers, league source tells ESPN.
Beachem went undrafted in 2017 after playing four years at Notre Dame. In those four seasons he averaged 9.2 points and 2.7 rebounds.

His best year was his senior season in which he played 34.2 minutes per game, averaging 14.5 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 36.1 percent from three-point range. He shot 39.2 percent from deep in his career.
Beachem played for the Minnesota Timberwolves Summer League team, although he did not receive many opportunities.

The Lakers is current roster being very deep on the wing, with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brandon Ingram starting and Jordan Clarkson, Corey Brewer, Luol Deng and Josh Hart all vying for minutes off the bench, so Beachem’s likelihood of earning the team’s final roster spot is very slim.

The 22-year-old will have a chance to show the front office what he is capable of throughout the preseason though.

Lakers Rumors: Dwyane Wade interested in signing with the Lakers, Heat, Cavaliers and Clippers if buyout happens.

Dwyane Wade is currently under contract with the Chicago Bulls, but if he reaches a buyout with the team, he could have a few options for his next destination.
An associate of Wade "has been telling people" the 35-year-old could end up in Miami or Los Angeles this season if the Bulls buy him out, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com previously reported the Cleveland Cavaliers were also a possible destination.

Vardon explained that people in LeBron James' camp are "fairly confident" Wade will end up with the Cavs at some point. The duo previously helped the Miami Heat win two NBA titles in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Wade spent the first 13 seasons of his career in Miami before signing with Chicago last summer. Former teammate Udonis Haslem recently said he "would love to have him back," per Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post.

With regard to Los Angeles, Jackson didn't specify whether Wade would prefer joining the Clippers or Lakers. Considering his age, it would make more sense to join a ready-made playoff contender like the Clippers, but the young talent in purple and gold could intrigue him, too.

Wade's first step, however, will be finding a way out of Chicago despite being under contract this season. Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reported in August that he "isn't expected to be long for the organization's future." However, general manager Gar Forman and head coach Fred Hoiberg have given no indication the team will agree to a buyout.

With the Bulls expected to be one of the NBA's worst teams next season, Wade will likely do whatever it takes to secure his way out over the coming months.

Lakers News: #KevinDurant Says He Traded For No. 1 Pick In NBA 2K To Take Lonzo Ball.
The Lakers selected point guard Lonzo Ball out of UCLA with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, giving them their point guard of the future.

Ball demonstrated what he is capable of in the Las Vegas Summer League, taking home MVP honors and leading the Lakers to their first ever summer league championship.

As a pass-first point guard Ball plays with a style that Laker fans have not seen since Magic Johnson was leading the Showtime Lakers to five championships in the 1980s, as he likes to play up-tempo and gets his teammates involved.

Players around the league are beginning to take notice, which could bode well for the Lakers in free agency in the future. If Ball keeps up his level of play once players will want to come to the Lakers just to play with him.

One NBA star who is a fan of Ball’s is Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant. In a recent podcast with Bill Simmons of The Ringer, Durant said that in his MyGM mode of NBA 2K he traded up to get the No. 1 pick in the draft to take Ball: “I’m in GM mode, so when they came in, I had the Tar Heels, I uploaded them from the internet and I put them in a franchise, so they’re an expansion team in MyGM mode,” Durant shared. “I know it’s real deep, I’m like 16 years in on MyGM mode, I’m making trades. I traded for the No. 1 pick, I got Lonzo Ball and he’s the starting point guard for me.” While it is unlikely that Durant would ever join the Lakers, as his Warriors are set up to compete for championships for many years to come, it is nice to see that he is a fan of Ball’s and trusts him enough to be the starting point guard on his created team.

Ball will look to build off his summer league performance in his rookie year with the Lakers. He and the Lakers will take on Durant and the Warriors for the first time on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Staples Center.

LAKERS RETIRING JERSEY IN DEC.
... BEFORE WARRIORS GAME!

Christmas is coming early for Kobe Bryant -- the Lakers are planning to retire his jersey before the Warriors game on Dec. 18 ... multiple sources tell TMZ Sports.
The Lakers aren't officially acknowledging it -- but the team sent a letter to Lakers season ticket holders advising them to "hold on to your tickets for the game on Dec. 18" for a "special event." We've made some calls and everyone's saying the same thing ... it's Kobe's big night.
The big question ... which number will go up in Staples Center -- #8 or #24 ... or both? (Our money's on both). (via TMZ Sports)

Pacers Owner Herb Simon May Sue Lakers And NBA Over Tampering Case.
The Los Angeles Lakers were recently accused of tampering by Indiana Pacers owner Herb Simons in regards to former Pacers All-Star Paul George.

The NBA conducted an investigation on the matter and the result was a $500,000 fine for the Lakers, which is the largest fine given out for tampering in league history.
The reason for the fine was because of evidence they found in regards to Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka having a conversation with Goerge’s agent Aaron Mintz early this summer.

While a fine was not ideal, the Lakers accepted the penalty as it could’ve been much worse in the form of loss of draft picks or even not being able to sign George when he becomes a free agent in 2018.

The league closed its investigation on the matter, but apparently Simon is not satisfied as he is thinking about suing the Lakers and the NBA, via Peter Vecsey of Patreon: Still, just because Adam Silver feels his punishment fits the crime, it doesn’t mean Herb Simon will accept it. A confidant of the Pacers’ long-time owner, says he plans to raise a stink at the league’s next Board of Governors meeting. “He’s so fed up, don’t be shocked if he sues the league and the Lakers for damages.” George himself let it be known that he intends to sign with the Lakers when he hits free agency in 2018, which led to him ultimately being traded by the Pacers to the Oklahoma City Thunder this summer.

The Lakers have been very clear that they want to be big players in free agency in 2018, clearing up enough cap space to sign two max free agents with George being in their sights. They are not allowed to speak with him or his representatives directly though until he officially becomes a free agent which led to the tampering charges.

It is currently unknown what would come of a possible lawsuit if Simon does decide to sue the Lakers, but without concrete evidence there is not much that can be done.
