This isn’t your average house pet—meet the jungle cat (Felis chaus)! Despite its name, this feline prefers wetland habitats like swamps with thick vegetation, which is why it’s also known as the swamp cat. But depending on its locale, it also lives in habitats like grasslands, woodlands, and deserts. It has a wide range that includes Egypt, Israel, Jordan, as well as parts of Asia. The cat preys on small animals, reptiles, birds, and fish, usually using a stalk-and-ambush hunting tactic.
