Ink Challenge 2017-160: Diamine - Ruby
One of the newest additions to my collection of Diamine inks is the Ruby ink. This is a flat finished medium dark oxigen-rich blood red ink.
With a Ruby I tend to think of a brighter red than I got with this ink. That is because I normally see the polished gemstones in my mind. When you look at the raw stones, that can be colored pink to blood-red due to a variety in a chromium-aluminium oxide content.
The color of the ink is a decent red, but by far not my favorite red from Diamine. The flow is about average as is the dry time.

Ink Challenge 2017-162: Ruby Red Ink comparison
In the Ruby Red ink comparison I used the following three inks:
1. Diamine - Ruby
2. Robert Oster Signature - Rubine
3. Pelikan Edelstein - Ruby
Just like the gemstone, the color of the inks used range from a pink (Pelikan) to a deep blood red (Diamine and Robert Oster). All have their share of shading, but it is the most prominent with the Pelikan and the Robert Oster. Only the last one also shows a bit of sheen when it is aplied as a wet patch.
From these three the Robert Oster is the clear winner, since it looks the most like the color that I associate with a ruby, but also the bit of sheen and the shading.
