The Final Frontier.
Seriously, it's like the very last thing we want to switch to when we make the move to less toxic personal care products. I've done it twice.
1- A couple years ago I went on a huge DIY kick to save money and made my own deodorant. The stuff was magic and I had absolutely zero issues with it.
2- Recently I decided to go for it again, because the commercial deodorant I was using just stopped working and it worked so well for me previously. HOLY BURNING ARMPITS, BATMAN! That is some serious pain. And instant. And it took about a week for my poor skin to heal. No more of that particular DIY recipe for now.
I'm trying this Herban Cowboy Blossom stuff. I love the scent--which is a proprietary essential oil blend. So far so good, but it took me a good week of detox (witch hazel wipe-downs several times a day then reapplying the deodorant) to get the funk to stop being so...funky. I’m sweating a lot less than I was with the Popular Brand Name antiperspirant that I was using previously. It requires an extra application during the day and I'm ok with that because the ramifications of using known neuro and endocrine disruptors in order to block one of the most important detox pathways (sweating), are just not worth it any more. I'm doing everything I can to feel the best that I can for as long as I can. •
